Architect Charles Debbas originally approached Jeff to produce lighting for the foyer beyond this door; the cast glass "leaves" as windows were a project he was considering for his own home (also under construction).

As often happens, you give to others the gift you'd most like to receive yourself. Charles designed a door for his client that required the glass he wanted to take home. These deep voids were cut in the client's enormous pivot door, which demanded equally considered glass pieces to be installed in them. The mediterranean-blue panels are cast from full lead crystal, varying in thickness from .75" to over 1.5". The hand-sculpted molds created to form the glass panels were intentionally designed for single use only, so that the pieces could never be exactly replicated.
